Spatial information technology (Spatial Information Technology) is a rising technology in 1960s, which has been developed rapidly in China since the middle of the 70s. Mainly includes the theory and technology of system, geographic information system and remote sensing satellite positioning, combined with computer technology and communication technology, spatial data collection, measurement, analysis, storage, management, display, dissemination and application etc..
The representative technology of spatial information technology is 3S technology, including remote sensing (RS), geographic information system (GIS) and global positioning system (GPS).
The application of spatial information technology in the field of public health is mainly represented by 3S, GIS can provide spatial analysis and visualization methods for disease research; RS can provide the environmental risk factors of disease related data; GPS can provide accurate location information on the comprehensive utilization of GIS, RS and GPS spatial information technology to the disease, can accurately analyze the temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of the epidemic, effectively identify the environmental impact factors of the outbreak and epidemic regularity of disease in-depth mining.
Comprehensive monitoring and analysis of the influential factors of environment, build the forecast and early warning system, early identification and control of outbreaks, and to formulate strategy for prevention and control, blocking a pandemic occurs, the prevention and control measures will enable more active, more accurate and more timely and effective prevention and control.
