The public health field of application of spatial information technology research center by Chinese Academy of Sciences and Military Medical Science Academy of the PLA jointly established in November 2003, based on the remote sensing China academy and Digital Earth Research Institute (formerly the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications) and Military Medical Science Academy of the PLA Institute of Microbiology and epidemiology.
Based on the "center for environmental health remote sensing diagnosis" which is a new discipline direction, in SARS, a serious threat to influenza epidemic prevention and control of major infectious diseases and sudden Chinese people safety has made a great contribution, the center has undertaken a number of national major projects, which greatly promoted the application of modern spatial information technology based on remote sensing and geographic information system technology as the main body in the field of public health in china.

Operation mode
In order to bring local advantages, enhance the level of application of spatial information technology in the field of public health, promote environmental health, National Center for remote sensing diagnosis of discipline construction within the scope of the Provincial Center began to establish in March 13, 2012, is the first batch of first established 7 centers, built in 2014 by Fujian center, 2016 new Shaanxi center to the future 3-5 throughout the years.
